St Hilary’s School Year 2’s learn green screen

On 29th and 30th June we offered Year 2 pupils of St Hilary’s school a field trip like no other.

24 pupils of St Hilary’s school visited the From the Hip Video studios to not only design, produce and star in their very own film, but also learn about Green Screen, the technology which brings many of our favourite animated films to our TV screens today.

Working in groups, the pupils were asked to design the background to their own animated story. Then, each group acted out their story in the studio with only our 35-ft green screen as their backdrop. Working with the team at From the Hip Video, the pupils then saw how their designed backgrounds came together with their green screen performance to create an animated film where they play the leading stars.

Dan Neatherway, our Founding Partner, comments “we are pleased to support St. Hilary’s School by helping them take their learning to the next level.  Children are inspired by seeing learning in action, so it is a joy for us to support our local school and potentially some budding film makers of the future too.”

Jane Whittingham, Headmistress of St Hilary’s school adds: “I would like to say a huge thank you to the team at From the Hip Video for helping us to tap into our pupils creativity. As a school we pride ourselves in giving our pupils an all round education, equipping them with skills that can be explored and nurtured beyond their time with us. It is always great to see local businesses supporting and inspiring local children.”

It was a fun day of learning – with green screen technology allowing us to go to Ecuador and back in just a day.

Thank you St. Hilary’s.
